To actively support the role of Designated Nurse / Designated Professional as a resource for expert and specialist advice and support in safeguarding children, adults, mental capacity, Prevent and domestic abuse matters within the ICBs, providers and the wider health economy. This would be in order to influence the development of health services which effectively safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults through the use of audit, research and local review findings. Work with the designated professionals to ensure that the safeguarding policies (both internal and commissioning) are up to date and compliant with national and local legislation and guidelines, reviewing and amending as necessary. Work with designated professionals to review the assurance submitted by provider organisations against commissioning standards for safeguarding. Work with the designated professionals to ensure that the health component of multi-agency procedures is accurate, up to date and compliant with national and local legislation and guidelines. Represent the ICB and the wider health economy within the ICS, Safeguarding Children Partnership / Safeguarding Adult Board / Community Safety Partnership and its sub-groups, influencing, leading and contributing to agreed priorities and work plans. Support the work of the Designated Nurse / Designated Professional and others to lead the implementation, review and on-going development of the ICB safeguarding strategy. Apply specialist knowledge and critical analysis to lead and coordinate the health contribution to statutory case reviews, serious safeguarding incidents, challenge panels and other review / learning processes. Contribute critical analysis and specialised advice to complex enquiries / allegations that may have legal, ethical and professional implications in relation to safeguarding children, adults, mental capacity, prevent and domestic abuse. Contribute to the implementation of effective training and development activities to ensure that ICB staff have appropriate knowledge and skills around safeguarding children and adults including domestic abuse and prevent. Work collaboratively with Designated safeguarding professionals on a regional footprint to lead the safeguarding contribution to the changing landscape of health and social care.
