We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Conservation Officer to contribute to the work of our busy Planning Service. As well as ensuring the city’s unique and extensive heritage assets are carefully conserved you will also have the opportunity to support a range of heritage and design projects for key parts of our exciting city.
Brighton & Hove’s iconic heritage
Brighton & Hove is a vibrant city by the sea renowned for its attractions and for the wealth and diversity of its heritage assets. Situated between the coast and the South Downs National Park, the city’s heritage assets range from the iconic Royal Pavilion and impressive Regency squares to former downland villages and the 1960s listed buildings at the University of Sussex.
With c3,400 listed buildings and 33 conservation areas, there are also six registered parks and gardens, 28 scheduled monuments and over 400 locally listed heritage assets. All of this presents a challenging but rewarding range of work as the city aims to become carbon neutral by 2030.
For an informal discussion, please contact Colin Bannon, Heritage Team Leader: colin.bannon@brighton-hove.gov.uk or Sandra Rogers, Planning Policy, Projects & Heritage Team Manager: sandra.rogers@brighton-hove.gov.uk
