Temporary Project Officer – Home to School Transport

Hours per week: 35-37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 3 months

City: SPENNYMOOR

Support the delivery of home to school transport service transformation programme, assisting with the management, coordination and delivery of the programme to help ensure the Council achieve its objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce documentation, including work packages, descriptions, plans and quality control documents, in accordance with programme and project guidelines and under the guidance of the Transformation Manager – Home to School Transport.
Be responsible for assisting in the coordination and management of project work packages where required. This will involve ensuring delivery within the agreed time and budget and reporting any deviations to the Transformation Manager – Home to School Transport.
Monitor the programme budget and track expenditure against the forecast, reporting deviations to the Transformation Manager – Home to School Transport.
Support the management of the programme benefits realisation management.
Develop and have day-to-day responsibility for monitoring the risk management and quality process, ensuring those responsible for risks adhere to the process requirements.
Carry out general administrative tasks including updating and maintaining the programme filing system under programme and project guidelines.
Carry out general administrative tasks including data input and data gathering as required by the programme.
Prepare, organise and follow up project meetings. This will involve organisation of attendance, preparation of documentation, recording minutes and circulating information following the meeting.
Manage information needs including developing, managing and being responsible for electronic information.
Provide business change and adoption support across the full Home to School Transport Transformation programme.

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 4 in a business related discipline and/or experience in a project support role

Knowledge:

Knowledge of project management methodologies, systems and procedures.

Experience:

Extensive experience of working within a busy service within a local authority or private sector.
Experience of budget/benefits monitoring
Contributing to project management documentation (including PIDs, gantt charts, critical path, process maps)
Undertaking research including benchmarking and identification of best practice
Track record of successfully engaging with others in a diverse organisation, building positive working relationships

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent presentational skills.
Excellent ICT skills.
The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
The ability to respond to unforeseen changes.
