Summary
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Statistician/Epidemiologist within the Division of Population Health and Genomics, to analyse health data that will inform policy decision making on medicines, particularly in the areas of polypharmacy and chronic disease epidemiology. This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months.
The Division of Population Health & Genomics has electronic medical records and population health at its core. It combines established expertise in epidemiology, genomics, clinical medicine, health screening and lifestyle interventions to improve health at the population level. Several division research themes arise from using health data, pioneering the linkage of genomic data to electronic medical records.
The post holder will undertake with in collaboration with Scottish Government to evaluate the impact of decision support tools aimed at managing polypharmacy in primary care. Further opportunities will be provided in chronic disease epidemiology focused on comorbidities, and causal inference modelling working with other team members using existing data and tools. The successful application will have opportunities to publish research within the team and to gain exposure to a wide range of experience.

Your priorities will include:
- Modelling and causal inference analysis of routinely collected health data from real world populations.
- Writing programs, managing and analysing large routinely healthcare datasets with duties including preparation of protocols and reports.
- Providing advice and support to other members of the team on related projects.
- Presenting at research seminars
- Responsibility for your own workload to ensure deadlines are met; proactively addressing current problems, identifying solutions and implementing improved processes as required.
Who we're looking for:
- An experienced post-doctoral researcher/statistician/epidemiologist
- PhD or other relevant research experience
- A positive team player who pro-actively supports activities and is confident to progress and chase information as and when required using their own initiative
- An individual that takes ownership of their work and sees things through to completion
- Someone who can multi-task and has a keen eye for detail along with a "can do" attitude and a problem- solving approach
