A Housekeeping Assistant / Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall appearance of guest rooms and public areas. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of hygiene and service expected by guests. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Room Cleaning:
Clean and tidy guest rooms, including making beds, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, and polishing.
Ensure bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized, replenishing toiletries and towels as needed.
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
Public Area Maintenance:
Clean and maintain public areas such as corridors, lobbies, stairways, and elevators.
Ensure that all public restrooms are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
Guest Interaction:
Respond to guest requests promptly and courteously.
Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a friendly demeanor.
Report any guest complaints or issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Inventory and Supplies:
Keep track of cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
Restock amenities and supplies in guest rooms and public areas.
Safety and Security:
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
Ensure that guest privacy is respected at all times.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other housekeeping staff and departments.
Assist with training new staff members as needed.
Attend departmental meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in housekeeping or custodial work is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, and pull a moderate amount of weight.
Capable of standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
