Our 8a Antimicrobial Pharmacist role combines all the above.

You will be part of a supportive, experienced antimicrobial pharmacy team, consisting of; at York, an 8B Pharmacist for antimicrobials, 8A Pharmacist for OPAT/HIV and a senior AMS pharmacy technician, and at Scarborough, an 8A senior pharmacist for AMS/OPAT and a senior AMS pharmacy technician.

You will work alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary AMS teams,to optimise the use of antimicrobials across the Trust,ensuring that excellent patient care and medication safety is at the forefront of all decision making.

While pre-existing knowledge of antimicrobials, OPAT and HIV would be an advantage, we welcome applications from pharmacists able to demonstrate strong transferable skills.

Being an established non-medical prescriber (NMP) would be ideal but not essential for the role. Any candidate not currently a NMP would be supported through the process.

The role offers the prospect to develop and maintain a wide range of clinical knowledge and skills, within antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), OPAT and sexual health/HIV service, with leadership opportunities as part of a team approach, dependent on your interests.

Your roles will include but not limited to the following;

· Collaborate and liaise with key stakeholders within pharmacy, and wider MDT.

· Provide expert clinical advice to on antimicrobials.

· Attend AMS ward rounds and clinical MDTs, alongside infection specialists.

· Review and optimise current governance processes.

· Attend and, where appropriate, lead clinical and governance meetings.

· Review outcomes of the current service, including audit and research.

· Identify, develop, and deliver service improvement activities.

· Support service expansion

· Resource development and maintenance.

· Delivery of education

· External networking and benchmarking

· Deputise for and cross-cover with other members of the pharmacy antimicrobial team.

In addition to enhancing your specialist clinical knowledge, you will maintain your general clinical skills through ward service provision to a mutually agreed area. There will also be an element of dispensary and discharge cover, as per the requirements of the department.
