Summary

Acorn by Synergie are excited to be recruiting an experienced Development Technician for a progressive engineering company that provides monitoring and measurement solutions for the marine and utilities industries on a worldwide scale.

Scope of the role

Support the company's products during their design, development, release to production and technical support of products in the field, including field trials.

Main responsibilities include.

* Support and perform design, development, testing, and documentation activities relating to products in both development and on the market
* Work to produce reliable, robust, and functional products
* Manufacture of prototypes and test fixtures to meet company standards and processes
* Define, perform, and report on testing against given criteria
* Perform tests using existing test equipment or develop of equipment
* Technical document reviews
* Identify and enforce best practice and development standards
* To contribute towards the continual improvement of working practices and methods
* To undertake personal development activities appropriate to maintain and extend development technician skills

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

Skills

  • Ability to use test equipment and tools relating to electronics manufacture and testing.
  • Ability to fault find and guide people through technical activities remotely, as well as perform this action when in the field.
  • Ability to understand and review technical documents
  • Ability to use version and revision control products (VisualSVN)

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of electronic design and electronic product manufacturing
  • Knowledge of fault finding and electronic diagnostic devices
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the development lifecycle and standard test processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft including excel, word and outlook
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality procedures

Experience

  • Experience of successfully achieving deadlines
  • Experience of working with and without supervision
  • Experience of working in customer interactions and technical discussions
  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • Experience of delivering products that meet quality standards

Education & Certification

  • Qualification in electronics or engineering
  • Health and Safety qualification or training (desirable but not essential)
  • Risk assessment qualification or training (desirable but not essential)
