About the Role:

Southwark Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Transactional Finance to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is critical to our finance operations, with significant responsibility and a broad scope of duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to lead and modernize our Transactional Finance Services in line with our 'digital first' corporate strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the principal operational and strategic lead for Transactional Finance Services, managing a budget of approximately £3 million per annum.
Drive the modernisation and transformation of Transactional Finance Services to meet strategic goals.
Ensure efficient and effective management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking functions to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
Oversee the operational administration, management, and development of:
SAP accounts payables and receivables functions and services, including those related to adult social care through Mosaic.
SAP master data and user management functions and services.
Manage the Council’s sundry debt programme and oversee the management of payments of SAP AR invoices totaling £620 million annually.
Requirements:

Proven experience in a similar role within a financial or governmental organization.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Expertise in SAP financial systems, particularly in accounts payables and receivables.
Excellent strategic planning and operational management capabilities.
Ability to drive change and implement modernization initiatives in financial services.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
