We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) across our organisation.
You will work closely with our Lead Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, and clinicians within Microbiology, Infectious Disease, and Infection Prevention and Control, to reduce the development of resistance by providing strong AMS leadership, promoting local and national antimicrobial stewardship priorities and policies and reducing inappropriate prescribing.
You will lead or support a range of projects and initiatives aimed at reducing overall antimicrobial consumption across the organisation, ensuring all antimicrobial prescribing is supported by current and high-quality guidance, providing the best possible real-time data to support AMS decision-making, and optimising the potential of our digital health record system, Epic, to support AMS.
Additional responsibilities will include governance, antimicrobial consumption analysis and reporting, active participation in the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention and Control Committees, multi-professional education and training, service evaluation, and other strategic projects as required.
This will include initiatives to minimise inappropriate antimicrobial use, meet the educational needs of patients and staff, and improve overall antimicrobial prescribing across the trust.
You will also be responsible for the continuation of two recent projects, introducing elastomeric infusion pumps for the delivery of antimicrobials to patients within the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) service, and establishing pharmacist-led de-labelling for inpatients and in clinics.
With a broad base of general and specific clinical experience, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will also contribute towards the clinical supervision of multi-professional undergraduate students and the mentorship of pre-registration and postgraduate diploma students. You will also provide support for the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship strategies, and participate in audit and clinical research projects.
