Summary

Senior Policy Advisor, Cross-Government and International Strategy

The role holder will be responsible for:

Supporting DBT preparations for relevant Cabinet Committee meetings covering economic security issues. This includes preparing briefing for the DG ESTR for official level pre-meets as well as the Secretary of State and other Ministers.
Building robust, load-bearing relationships with the National Security Secretariat team in the Cabinet Office that coordinates economic security work across government, and with other departments such as the FCDO, HMT and DSIT.
Helping to develop and deliver DBT’s international strategy on economic security and supporting engagement with international partners, both multilaterally including the G7, and through bilateral dialogues - whether formal or informal. Key partners include the US and EU, as well as a range of other countries.
Establishing a collaborative network across DBT policy teams and Economic Security Officers based overseas in order to be able to coordinate responses to fast-moving issues and drive forward international engagement priorities.
Providing written and oral briefings for meetings involving Ministers and senior officials, and supporting them to deliver Parliamentary business.
Being a supportive and flexible member of a friendly and fun team.

Senior Policy Advisor, Business Resilience

The role holder will be responsible for:

Supporting the development of DBT’s long-term strategic thinking on economic security and working with relevant policy and sector teams to ensure implementation of DBT’s strategic direction on economic security.
Working directly with DBT industrial policy and operational teams (regulation, UKEF etc.) to assess and propose policies and tools to support business resilience to economic security threats.
Working with DBT sector teams to assess economic security threats to their sectors, and work with priority companies to build resilience.
Supporting development of tools and policies to build business resilience to economic security threats, leading specific workstreams within the larger project.
Supporting delivery of business engagement events as and when needed.
Provide clear and concise oral and written briefings to Ministers and senior officials.

The responsibilities for both roles may change to reflect government priorities and the evolving economic security landscape.
