Crynodeb

Do you have experience of interpreting legislation and case law, with the ability to draft complex legal and operational guidance?

Are you someone who enjoys working collaboratively with different business areas?

Would you like the opportunity to work in a varied role, which provides you with the chance to shape and influence how the Traffic Commissioners and the team that support them carry out their roles?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

You will support the traffic commissioners by ensuring the provision of a quality corporate office support service to the Senior Traffic Commissioner (STC) and Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain to enable them to perform their statutory duties. You will be supported by the team members in the Traffic Commissioner Corporate Office, with management responsibility for three people. These staff are based remotely across Great Britain so frequent travel and nights away will be required.

The role includes the provision of effective secretariat support, assisting the TC Board in the determination and delivery of the strategic plans and objectives, working to develop the TC Board’s policy related to operator licensing and the delivery of portfolio responsibilities.

You will act as a key liaison point between the DfT, DVSA, external stakeholders and the traffic commissioners on the provision of the operator licensing service, working with other managers in the Office of the Traffic Commissioner to ensure that the direction set by the TC Board is implemented.

The management and overseeing of all external communications and engagement activity on behalf of the TC Board and working with the Data Protection Manager to oversee the data governance arrangements on behalf of the TCs, will be an important part of this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Providing support to the Senior Traffic Commissioner and traffic commissioners on the delivery of their portfolio responsibilities.
  • Providing advice and support to traffic commissioners and representing their interests with Department for Transport (DfT) policy leads in support of on-going development of the traffic commissioners’ strategic plans and objectives.
  • Lead the design and implementation of public and stakeholder consultations using multiple formats.
  • To manage and oversee all external communications activity on behalf of the TC Board, the STC, individual TCs and the OTC.
  • To assist in the management of TC Information Access Team and the implementation of Traffic Commissioner data governance, policies and procedures.

Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.

Please note that there is a requirement for frequent travel to other Office of the Traffic Commissioner and DVSA locations, including overnight stays as part of this role.
