Summary

Join us as our Head of Group Public Policy Research & Political Risk

  • This is a varied and engaging role in which you’ll be responsible for supporting your function and wider business with policy development, political horizon scanning, political engagement and the identification of political risk
  • You’ll be working with senior stakeholders and leading a highly skilled team, continually driving the identification and mitigation of potential risks
  • Your work will have an enormous impact as you’ll develop and implement our centre of expertise regarding political policy, research and risk

What you'll do

As our Head of Group Public Policy Research & Political Risk, you’ll be responsible for driving the development of policy interventions. In doing so, you’ll develop our strategic approach for the use of lobbying governments and politicians across the UK. You’ll be expected to stay abreast of the key political policy areas of the day in order to develop our policy positions across a number of areas.

In addition to this, you’ll be responsible for:

  • The horizon scanning of key issues covering policy and political risk
  • Identifying any political risks we might face before developing mitigating actions
  • Developing research materials to support regional board communications, influencer engagement and the Levelling Up agenda
  • Developing simple, accessible materials on our strategy and purpose for external use

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with the ability to deliver clear, well researched materials for external parties covering our strategy. As such, you’ll be able to deal with highly sensitive and confidential materials.

Along with an understanding of our wider strategy, you’ll have the ability to research complex political policies and how they affect us and our customers.

You will also need a contacts book, the desire to build that contacts book and the willingness to engage with politicians and officials on an ongoing and out of hours basis.

We’re also looking for:

  • The ability to build strong and widespread relationships across the bank
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate innovative solutions to potential risks
  • Effective leadership skills to manage a highly skilled, experienced and well connected team
  • The ability to lobby government on areas of political policy and risk that affect us
