Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Consultant Microbiologist for a Permanent positions supporting University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The post holder will play a crucial role in shaping the microbiology services, contributing to the enhancement of patient care through innovative diagnostic approaches and rigorous infection control measures.

Salary: £99,532 to £131,964 a year (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time, Part-time
Location: Plymouth
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Diagnostics: Supervise diagnostic methods and interpret lab results.
- Clinical Liaison: Provide on-call advice and manage significant results.
- Infection Control: Develop and implement infection prevention programs.
- Committee Participation: Engage in relevant hospital committees.
- Develop Policies: Maintain clinical guidelines and SOPs.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate departmental risks.
- Operational Planning: Manage lab operations and introduce new tests.
- Training: Educate and train medical students and professionals.
- Clinical Audit: Participate in and implement clinical audits.
- Research: Conduct and publish research in medical microbiology.
Essential Requirements:
- GMC Registration: Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- Completion of Training: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Medical Microbiology or within six months of award.
- FRCPath Qualification: Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent qualification.
- Broad Training and Experience: Extensive training and experience in Medical Microbiology and Virology.
- Clinical Independence: Ability to deliver service independently without direct supervision.
