We are looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to clinically lead our small team of SLTs providing a site-wide adult acute service at Hammersmith Hospital. This is a fixed-term maternity cover, and is an ideal post for an experienced clinician wishing to maintain expert clinical duties whilst developing their leadeship skills.
You will provide expert clinical care and leadership to the small, friendly team of 4.0wte SLTs (inc. of this post) delivering an evdienced based, responsive service to adults admitted with swallowing and communication difficulties across the site (critical care, medical and surgical beds). Hammersmith Hospital is a specialist hospital offering a range of services, including renal, haematology, cancer (including upper GI) and cardiology care.
You will be responsible for the team and service and carry a clinical caseload alongside managing operational and quality issues. You will contribute to instrumental assessments including FEES and video fluoroscopy. You will be actively involved in training and education and drive service improvements and innovations in practice.
You will join a wider team of over 40 SLTs across our three hospital sites, with excellent support and close-knit working with your fellow clinical lead SLTs based at Charing Cross and St Mary's hospital sites, and receive regular supervision and support form the Clinical Service Lead SLT. You will form close working relationsips with your therapy and wider MDT colleagues on the Hammersmith site.
• This job description is for clinical lead therapists who lead uni or integrated therapy teams on one or more hospital sites and/or community for Medicine, Surgery & Cancer, Neurosciences, Outpatients, Nutrition & Dietetics, Speech & Language Therapy and Children’s therapies.
• This post relates specifically to the Clinical Lead Specialist SLT for Adult Acute based at Hammersmith Hospital (HH), overseeing a small team of SLTs providing a service to patients with communication and swallowing impairments admitted to the site (all critical care, medical and surgical beds). Hammersmith Hospital is a specialist hospital offering a range of services, including renal, haematology, cancer (including upper GI) and cardiology care. The team supports the site’s SLT-led instrumental dysphagia assessment service to inpatients (videofluoroscopy and FEES) as well as an outpatient videofluoroscopy clinic.
