We are seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to commence on Standish Ward within in the Division of Medicine.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis up until April 2025 as it has been established to provide cover for maternity leave.

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.

Whilst this post is advertised on a acting/secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Candidates are required to present original certificates for qualifications at interview stage.

Your role as a Health Care Support Worker is to support our Nursing teams deliver the best care possible to our patients and contribute to the smooth running of our wards and departments.

1. Assist patients with the provision of washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
2. Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.
3. Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
4. Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.
5. Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.
6. Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well-being or any possible risks.
7. Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, fluid checks as directed.
8. Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
9. Assist with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.
10. Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.
