The ideal candidate would have experience working in a similar role, has or is working towards relevant horticultural qualifications or similar and shows a keen interest working with plants.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring plant material remains healthy by watering research plants to correct standard, provide a good horticultural standard of plant care, set-up, and service irrigation systems, help team to apply innovative techniques to solve horticultural problems and maintain facilities at their optimal working level by ensuring facilities have been prepared and are ready to accept new plant material.
A high proportion of the post involves cleaning the plant growing facilities and associated areas to the high standards expected by the Institute. A good knowledge of pest and disease and experience of application of management techniques including the spraying of pesticides would be an advantage.
