We are looking for a experienced and highly knowledgeable Quality Management expert, with a proven track record in Health and Safety management. The post holder is a key member of the Pathology senior management team, responsible to the Pathology Clinical Director and managerially accountable to the Head of Pathology, and accountable for the department for key aspects of the quality and health & safety management systems which enable a high quality, responsive Pathology service based at three hospital sites.
Lead the development and sustainability of a strong quality, health, and safety culture within the Pathology department. Building on current best practice and, leading new ways of working where required.
The post holder will be an expert in their field, able to analyse and interpret highly complex information and to provide training, guidance, and assure compliance with legislations and the Workplace standards as defined by Pathology Governance.
Specifically triangulating information from incidents, complaints, and risk assessments to learn and improve. To work with the Divisional and Corporate Governance teams to lead and assure delivery of clinically effective high-quality services that comply with current legislation, regulations, policy, guidelines, and current best practice e.g. UKAS, HTA, MHRA (BSQR) and Care Quality Commission’s standards.
• Work with the quality improvement team within HHFT to ensure that staff members are trained and lead quality improvements that add value to the Pathology Department and wider organisation.
• To provide leadership and guidance in the production and revision of department Standard Operating Procedures to comply with the accreditation and regulatory requirements within Pathology such as ISO15189 as assessed by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
• To develop and sustain a Quality management function as required by the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations and the Human Tissues Act providing the expertise and leadership required to meet the standards.
• Organise and participate in the Pathology Quality and Governance meeting(s) on behalf of the Pathology Governance Board.
• Identify areas and particular projects where there is the potential for improvement of quality to the benefit of the service provided by the Laboratory. Oversee delivery and development of case studies and posters etc to share the improvements widely
• Represent the department, on behalf of the Head of Pathology, at relevant Divisional and Trust meetings regarding health and safety.t.
• To implement and assure a Health and Safety culture and update all generic Pathology procedures and policies relating to health and safety and to assist the Laboratories in producing lab-based Health and Safety documentation
