About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK, however we will need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around the UK which includes, but is not limited to: Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Portsmouth or Poole.

Salary: £62,324 - £71,370 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

What is the Role?

As SSEN's (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) Telecoms Senior Asset Engineer within Distribution Operational Technology, your key responsibilities will include:

- Leading, developing and delivering a private Long-Term Evolution (LTE) telecommunications network based on OFCOMs anticipated release of spectrum bandwidth.

- Leading, developing and delivering on future Telecoms support models.

- Supporting the Asset Management of our communication systems, ensuring satisfactory performance, whilst finding ways to reduce risk and balance cost through the continuous improvement of processes.

- Working closely with key internal stakeholders to deliver a robust communications solution that facilitates the safe operation of the Electricity Networks while maintaining system integrity as well as developing and reviewing business cases for communications projects to be presented to the Board, assessing various options and analysing the most beneficial cost vs risk solutions.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Previous industry experience and an understanding of governance applied to safety critical engineering processes, risk assessment and mitigation processes.

- Working knowledge in multiple systems and associated architecture in some or all of the following; Microwave, Fibre, Data Networking, TSAT, VSAT, Scanning Radio, LTE, PMR, GPRS, PDH/SDH Mux, meshed networks.

- Commercial awareness with an understanding of the cost versus risk profile for Customer Interruptions & Customer Minutes Lost (CIs & CML's).

- Ability to develop and implement engineering strategy with a proven record of implementing new ideas.
