Our esteemed client the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is looking for a Head of Information and Data Management. Do you have a passion for data? Is your background in Data Analytics / Analysis? The CAA want somebody who can improve on the way data is currently evaluated to improve safety and promote sustainability. This is not a ‘hands on’ role, but a technical background is required in Power BI, SQL, Azure, Alteryx and Microsoft Data Stack. Previous experience of leading a team is essential for this role.
The role
The Head of Information and Data Management will report directly to the CIO and will line manage a team of 12. In this role you will be responsible for the following:
- Work with board members, the CEO, the CIO and other ExCo members to establish vision, and to create a culture that treats data as a cross-corporate asset and evangelise for the effective management and exploitation of data.
- Lead the Data and Information Management team.
- Own, evolve and implement the CAA Data Strategy.
- Responsibility and accountability for enterprise information assets.
- Be the corporate leader of data insights that help drive strategic and tactical business opportunity, and be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.
- Deploy the Data and Information Management team to exploit data using research and analytics to maximize the return on data assets.
- Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to drive business innovation throughout the organisation. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Essential Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.
- Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under own supervision; working ethically and with integrity.
- Strategic technology planning experience; experience in strategic technology planning and execution, and policy development and maintenance
- Analytical skills: outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with business information generation and analysis methods
Desirable Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of data structure; information systems/tools, and related software and data management; enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices in a complex organisational environment.
- Broad experience in multiple domain areas, such as data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards, regulatory compliance and enterprise architecture frameworks
- Demonstrable understanding of data quality considerations and solutions
- Technical knowledge of databases and their structure and experience of developing and implementing effective data standards
- Experience of using taxonomies/controlled vocabulary
- Experience of reviewing design documentation from a data quality perspective
- Ability to facilitate and lead workshops with numerous internal stakeholders to achieve consensus and deliver technical information in non-technical language
