Finance has recently redesigned its service to ensure that it is closely aligned with the new structure of the council and to ensure that it can provide additional support in areas where the council faces its most significant financial challenges. Located within the council’s headquarters at the Civic Centre, Motherwell you will be a confident, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a positive disposition. You will be required to display initiative and work well within a team environment.

You will assist in the development and implementation of financial and budgetary control systems and provide financial and administrative support. Your main duties will include supporting budget monitoring processes, analysing financial records and statistics, producing financial management information, supporting year end accounting processes and provision of general administrative support.

In undertaking these tasks, you will be a key member of the team ensuring compliance with the council’s financial regulations and schemes of financial delegation. You will, therefore, require a minimum of two years practical experience within a finance environment and be able to evidence numeracy, communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, you should have knowledge of online financial management information systems and modern software packages, along with the ability to organise work effectively to meet deadlines.

You must be educated to Higher Grade of equivalent. Experience of financial ledger / accounting systems, experience of using spreadsheets and database, the ability to plan and monitor the work of clerical staff and knowledge of other finance related systems such as procurement, debtors or commitment reporting are desirable. An HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification and the ability to travel to offices within the Council’s boundaries are also desirable.

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
