About the role:



Our Revenue Management team are responsible for setting the price and availability of all Advance Purchase tickets on the Northern network. As the Revenue Management Analyst you’ll leverage customer demand to optimise yield and load factor of train services in our Revenue Management System. You will take the initiative to trial new strategies and collaborate across teams to offer a better customer proposition.



This role demands a blend of analytical expertise, commercial awareness and collaboration, all geared towards optimising revenue performance and bringing our strategic revenue management strategy to life.

Key responsibilities:



The Revenue Management Analyst role is dynamic, requiring someone that can utilise data and insight which they conclude with actions that will deliver optimised performance. Here are a look at some of the key activities involved with the role:

Use the Revenue Management System to set up and manage portfolios of trains accounting for passenger loadings, revenue and competition
Closely collaborate with teams across the business such as Capacity Insight, Events & Planning, Marketing and Customer Experience to deliver improved results for Northern
Provide analysis to support initiatives that will help achieve and exceed the business plan
Propose actions that will benefit Northern by mitigating crowding and capitalising on opportunities
Work with suppliers to improve and develop Revenue Management Systems and Policies
Ensure the timely & effective delivery of KPI reports to the Commercial Development Team and wider business
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of your portfolios becoming a key point of contact for their commercial development
About you:



You will be able to think strategically and possess a combination of analytical and collaborative skills. You will be comfortable in navigating data sets, drawing meaningful conclusions and translating this into strategic actions that you implement yourself or as part of a team. Your communication skills with be effective as demonstrated by your ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders supporting development of commercial awareness.



We’re also looking for the following:

Essential

Strong analytical skills and great attention to detail
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Strong collaborating skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Proactivity and drive to identify and implement new opportunities
Desirable

Degree in Business, Mathematical, Scientific or Transport discipline
Previous Revenue Management Experience
Experience using Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau/Alteryx
Knowledge of the rail industry
