Transforming Pathology Service in Dorset
This is an exciting time to join the Pathology team in Dorset. We are currently making great progress with our vision to create a first class integrated Pathology service for Dorset. The ‘One Dorset Pathology’ services for Poole Hospital, Dorset County Hospital and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals will provide clinicians, patients and carers with a consistent and high standard of service across the area and maximise efficiency in the use of resources.
A brand new Pathology Hub has been built at Royal Bournemouth Hospital site and all departments have now transferred.
This is a full time post of 1.0 WTE. Applicants should hold Full and Specialist registration (and with a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
The successful candidate will be replacing a retired Consultant and be part of a Clinical Biochemistry team comprising of one medical consultant and four principal clinical scientists. For your metabolic and endocrine activities you will work closely with a team of six consultants (four part-time) at the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (BDEC) at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. The post holder will be expected to help provide, and develop as necessary, a comprehensive Clinical Biochemistry laboratory and Metabolic Medicine clinical service for University Hospitals Dorset.
If an applicant is UK trained, they must be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Research is supported and encouraged by the department. The University of Bournemouth is actively seeking medical staff for lecturing and research activities. The post holder is expected to work on both sites (Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital).
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
