The Environment Agency protect and improve the environment. Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate on people and wildlife. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place. Under Freedom of Information legislation, members of the public have the right to ask us for detailed information that is not currently available to them. When the Environment Agency receive a request for information, you need to know how to respond quickly and efficiently and in line with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. Working closely with other teams locally and nationally, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:

• Working as part of a team to deliver compliance to statutory requirements.
• Liaise with internal teams on “business as usual” queries.
• Working with others to manage reputational risk.
• Analysing software to gather flooding information that is linked to a geographical location.
• Building networks with other customer & engagement teams and National teams to share knowledge and best practice.
• Ensuring that our data has the correct licence with the appropriate conditions, attributes, and information warnings.

As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Management Support & Enquires team is a busy team that works with others to deliver excellent customer service to people living and working across Yorkshire. Ensuring we give clear, consistent advice and information on sensitive and emotive issues such as flooding, pollution and regulated sites. We manage a diverse range of requests from many different stakeholders including the public, councils, businesses, consultants, etc.
Experience/skills required
• Excellent communication skills are a must as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people at all levels.
• Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
• Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information.
• Have a flexible approach and be able to adapt to changing priorities whilst managing your workload.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team ensuring that deadlines are met.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Confident in using MS Office.
• Knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts and Environmental Information Regulations would be an advantage, but not essential.
