Manchester City Centre, in this role you'll work in a hybrid way (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

We're looking for a Valuation Manager to join our property team at Co-op. You'll help shape our trading property portfolio, securing the best value as our business grows and changes. You'll also be managing our business rates liability of around £100m and provide valuation advice across our £1bn multi-sector portfolio.

We'll look to you to build strong relationships with our senior business leaders, and work closely with our external partners, making sure all work is completed on time and to the best possible standard. If you can bring us the experience we need, we can offer you the opportunity to build a career and shape the future of our property portfolio across the Co-op business.

What you'll do

  • Take ownership of the business rates process, making sure we're paying the correct amount
  • Procure and undertake valuations for various business purposes
  • Make sure all tasks are completed to a high standard in terms of time, cost and quality
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve and develop the process
  • Work collaboratively with senior partners from property, finance, construction, acquisitions and refurbishment teams
  • Build positive relationships with external suppliers to make sure all work is delivered on time to a high standard
  • Carry out internal reporting of successful appeals and savings back to the business

This role would suit people who have

  • Business rates or valuation experience
  • Excellent relationship building and engagement skills, right up to executive level
  • Analytical skills, the ability to interpret leases, property transactions and values
  • Worked with a large, dynamic property portfolio
  • Strong organisational skills, able to work on multiple projects to tight deadlines

Why Co-op?

If you have the skills that we need, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services).

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Private healthcare
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream app - giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn
  • YuLife app - rewarding you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for your favourite brands

At Co-op, we're proud to do things a different way. As one of the world's largest co-operatives, owned by millions of members, community is at the heart of what we do. Since our Co-op was founded in 1844, we've had a clear social purpose, and everything we do as a business helps to build a fairer world for our members, customers, colleagues, and communities.
