Crynodeb

To deliver and assess competency in Basic, Immediate and Advanced Life Support training in both adult and paediatric patients as per Trust policy. To assist in ensuring that all members of the cardiac arrest team, and all necessary holders of the resuscitation pagers, are trained and competent in the current resuscitation protocols including the operation of relevant equipment. To deliver basic life support training to Trust staff as part of their annual mandatory training. To assist in the co-ordination and running of externally Accredited Life Support courses. Provide specialist advice to clinical teams on specific care of the deteriorating patient and emergency care. Use specialist knowledge when attending resuscitation attempts in order to advise, co-ordinate and facilitate the resuscitation team. Undertake on site visits to advise on emergency equipment, systems and processes. Investigate and assist reports on any clinical incidents relating to resuscitation or failure to recognise or escalate for higher levels of care for the deteriorating patient. Work in conjunction with the acute care team and emergency teams as required to safely transfer critically unwell patients to relevant clinical areas e.g. critical care. Provide emotional support, debrief and guidance to members of the emergency team, clinical staff ,patients and relatives. Provide advice relating to issues related to Health & Safety Legislation within the sphere of resuscitation. Maintain own professional practice to continue to provide expert/specialist advice in the field of practice to give assurance to the Trust. Provide effective liaison with clinical staff, switchboard and portering services to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the emergency call system. Assist with the maintenance and safe use of resuscitation equipment within the organisation in collaboration with the Resuscitation Lead and clinical engineering department. To participate, when available, in the Resuscitation Team as an active member of the cardiac arrest team and ensure that quality standards are being maintained and current guidelines adhered too.
