You will support colleagues within the setting as part of the pre-school team to support the aims and objectives of the setting. This includes providing safe, high-quality education and care for young children and acting as a keyworker to a group of children undertaking observations and implementing activities to further children’s learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the implementation of the curriculum (EYFS framework) by providing safe, creative, and appropriate educational opportunities for all children within an inclusive environment to ensure all children can learn interact and fulfil their potential
• To act as a key worker to a small group liaising closely with parents/carers to ensure individual needs are met, and record-keeping relating to the progress and development of all children.
• To encourage parental involvement and support through the development of effective working relationships
• To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families and other staff members which are acquired as part of the job role
• To ensure that activities are carried out in safe and responsible manner in accordance with statutory responsibilities, and to advise the pre-school manager of any concerns over children and equipment etc.
• Ensure all children have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
• Significant elements of inside and outside work including leading outdoor play
• To work with a range of people including parents, families and other professionals and agencies
• Promoting positive values, attitudes and good child behaviour dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging children to take responsibility of their own behaviour
• To actively promote and support the safeguarding of ALL children and young people in the workplace ensuring the settings policies and procedures are always observed
• To ensure that effective health and safety procedures are carried out in within the setting and record and report accidents and incidents through the relevant systems
• To ensure you keep yourself up to date with current good practice and current policies and procedures, and adhere to these
• To attend in-house training, courses and staff meetings as required that are in relation to your job title
• Have a positive approach to continuous professional development
• To undertake any other reasonable duties in accordance with preschool business plan/objectives

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
• Willingness to learn
• A relevant level 2 or above Early Years qualification
• A satisfactory enhanced DBS check which confirms suitability to work with children
• Previous experience of working with children
• Commitment to diversity and equal opportunities
• Commitment to improving outcomes for children and their families
• A friendly and flexible approach to the job role
• Health clearance for the job role
• Ability to work independently using own initiative
• Working as part of a team

DESIRABLE CRITERIA
• A relevant level 3 qualification
• Experience of working in an Early Years setting
• Good knowledge of the EYFS

- Functional Skills in English and maths if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- There may be chance of employment at the end of the apprenticeship.
