A Vacancy at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Specialist Services Network - Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Services - Band 8a Clinical Lead, Edith Rigby House PIPE Approved Premise, Forensic Community Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and committed individual to join Edith Rigby House (ERH) Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) Approved Premise (AP) in Preston, as a band 8a Clinical Lead. ERH PIPE AP is part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway in Lancashire, and the successful candidate will primarily be based at ERH PIPE AP.

Offender Personality Disorder Services (OPDS) are part of Forensic Community Services within the Specialist Services Network in Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT). OPDS are delivered in partnership with His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and provide support to prison and probation teams.

The successful candidate will work within LSCFT OPDS, together with the Probation Service Strategic and Operational Leads, to agree objectives and project plans for the implementation and ongoing development of the PIPE model and accreditation as an Enabling Environment (EE) at ERH.

PIPE’s are specifically designed environments where staff members have additional training to help them develop an increased psychological understanding of their work. This understanding enables them to create an enhanced safe and supportive environment, which can facilitate the development of those who live there. They are designed to have a particular focus on the environment in which they operate; actively recognising the importance and quality of relationships and interactions. They aim to maximise learning opportunities within ‘ordinary’ living experiences and to approach these in a psychologically informed way, paying attention to interpersonal difficulties, for example, those issues that might be linked to personality disorder.

The PIPE model incorporates six core components, which are designed to support and develop individuals living and working in a PIPE. The successful candidate will lead in development and implementation of the agreed project plan to ensure delivery of these core PIPE components, working closely with the Probation Service PIPE AP Operational Lead (Approved Premises Manager). The Clinical Lead will provide teaching, training, and clinical supervision to staff at ERH PIPE AP to support their understanding and delivery of a psychologically informed service to female residents. The Clinical Lead will supervise and oversee the development and implementation of structured activities and socially creative sessions that form part of the PIPE model.
