If you are ambitious to develop your Specialist Acute Physiotherapy skills, with a passion for acute respiratory physiotherapy especially critical care, then this is the job for you. Whilst being involved in service development and supporting other members of the therapy team, you will find this a rewarding role.
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Acute Inpatient Therapy Team for a fixed term maternity cover. This post would also be suitable for a band 5 wishing to grow into a band 6 and expand a passion for respiratory physiotherapy.
You will be working as part of the therapy team with a focus on working on the critical care and the acute respiratory wards. The team covers medical, surgical, oncology and ICU alongside occupational therapist and experienced therapy techs.
The successful candidate will bring/develop specialised skills within respiratory , alongside an opportunity to enhance your general medical/surgical and oncology physiotherapy skills to treat and facilitate patients with varied, and often multifaceted and complex needs.
This post will be integral in supporting and teaching more junior staff and the wider MDT. The post will also involve assisting with audit and service development projects, and will provide an opportunity to further develop specialised physiotherapy skills including high-level assessment and treatment skills and complex case management.
To be successful in this post, you will have:
• At least 18 months experience of working as a physiotherapist, covering the core clinical areas, including respiratory
• Experience working on an on-call rota
• A comprehensive knowledge of the physiotherapy assessment & treatment of a range of clinical conditions.
• Excellent organisational and motivational skills.
• An ability to work well across teams to meet patient and service priorities
• A knowledge of the workings of community services and in supporting admission avoidance
Rota : Weekend working, and participation in the on-call respiratory service, is also integral to the role.

Base Location: Poole Hospital
