We are an award-winning building design consultancy and 2024 is proving to be our busiest year yet. With exciting new projects coming up with our Partner North Yorkshire Council and private sector clients, we are looking for a Technical Assistant – Abnormal Loads to join us at Align Property Services within our Bridges team on a casual basis. You will play a vital role as we continue to expand and grow our portfolio.



As a Technical Assistant for Abnormal Loads’ you will be part of an administrative team of 2-3 people, supporting the bridges department. The team are responsible for reviewing, accepting and the processing of abnormal load applications (approx. 200 to 500 per day) to ensure abnormal loads are transported safety across the North Yorkshire highway network. Full training will be provided on the use of the Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads (ESDAL) system. You will liaise with hauliers and highway authorities to check the suitability of a proposed route to avoid bridges that may have a limited structural capacity. You will also inform members of the bridges team where alternative routes are not possible and structural assessments may be necessary.

Full training will be given, but to be successful in this role you will have the following Skills and Qualifications:





· GCSE’s, preferably in Maths and English.

· Be able to follow regulations for responding to hauliers and notifying highway, police, and bridge authorities.

· Effective communication and people skills.

· IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Especially proficient in Word and Excel.

· Be able to balance workload successfully at peak times.
