Manpower Recruitment are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated chef to join us on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will join a friendly team of professional chefs with a wealth of experience and who are passionate about delivering high culinary standards. The role will involve preparing meals for a wide range of catered events in the College, including fine dining, garden parties and weddings.


Salary: £31,577 pa, depending on previous skills and experience with two additional £500 payments: on successful completion of your probationary period as well as the anniversary of your appointment.
Working straight-shifts, five days over seven and no need to work over the Christmas period or New Year's Day.

General Overview


The Chef de Partie is responsible under the supervision of the Head Chef for providing the highest standards of catering, hygiene, and cleanliness.


This role requires a motivated individual with experience in catering and a passion for working with food.
You will be involved in the planning and preparation of a range of quality food within the College.
The post-holder will work as part of a busy kitchen team and be expected to provide cover during colleagues' absence and for events.
Responsibilities and duties

  1. To work as part of the kitchen team under the direction of the Head Chef or deputy, producing the highest standards of food for routine daily catering and for special events according to menus. Events that are catered for could include: - Formal three or five course meals - Weddings and conferences - Meals for academic Fellows - Staff and student meals - Buffet lunches.
  2. To prepare and present meals for College and private events with support from the Kitchen management team.
  3. To play a key role in determining how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
  4. To ensure that work in completed in a timely manner in accordance with recipes or under the direction of the kitchen management team.
  5. To maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene, cleanliness and presentation always wearing appropriate uniform.
  6. To comply with the Food Safety Act and General Food Hygiene Regulations.
  7. To have an awareness and understanding of food allergens and how to cater for these.
  8. To comply with Health and Safety Regulations including COSHH.
  9. To undertake any necessary job-related training.
  10. To ensure minimum kitchen wastage.
  11. To ensure the security of stores, kitchen premises and equipment.
  12. Behave in an appropriate professional manner to all members of College, visitors and staff.
  13. To always maintain strict confidentiality.
  14. To undertake any job-related training requested by the College Updated: April 2024
  15. To work as part of a busy team and be flexible and willing to help colleagues when required.
  16. To undertake any other tasks commensurate with the role as may be required by the Head Chef or supervisor on duty.
