Summary:
To serve as the director of Christian education department at Watersprings Christian Centre (WCC). The director of Christian education is responsible for working with the Christian education team and senior pastor to organize and resource the education programs at Watersprings Christian Centre, with an emphasis on children and youth, as well as to train church members for the task of teaching and leading Christian Education in a shared capacity.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinating education and special programming with the Christian Education Team at WCC.
• Enhance existing programs and develop new programs for children and youth
• Acquiring and adapting curriculum materials to conform with our culture and tradition at WCC.
• Coordinating and recruiting volunteer assistants to help develop children and youth group activities and programs.
• Coordinating and teaching membership training classes.
• Sharing in the leadership of worship to include youth, teens, and children’s time each month.
• Scheduling and chairing meetings of the Christian Education Team.
• Developing the Christian Education budget and following the budgetary guidelines set by Session.
• Communicate the activities of the Christian Education ministry on the church website and social media platforms.
• Work with leaders of youth groups to coordinate events and trainings.
• Be committed to continuous professional development.
• Be committed to working as a team and to build the Christian education programs at WCC.
• Be committed to servant leadership, being receptive to feedback from team members, the congregation, and pastors.
• Be committed to serving through your passion, faith, and expression of worship unto God through Christian education.
• Commitment to being an example in attitude and action both on and off the platform and representing our church well.
• Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of our church.
• Undertake any other duties as required which are commensurate with the role.
• Performing other duties from time to time as may be directed by the senior pastor.
• Familiarise with the history, culture, and doctrine at WCC.

Key Requirements:
• Lay professional with a strong focus and background in ministries of education and formation.
• Commitment to Christ-centered spiritual development.
• Experience with Christian Education programs in a Christian church
• Solid “people skills,” i.e., personable, outgoing, community oriented, a positive outlook and a sense of humour.
• Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
• Computer literate.
• Effectively able to manage volunteers.
• Stringent criminal background checks.
• A strong sense of leadership and willing to assist during volunteer meetings.
• General group leadership in behaviour, deportment (i.e., stage etiquette), attendance and punctuality at all church events.

Qualifications:
• A strong commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the teachings of the Bible.
• Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
• Experience inspiring and working with a team of volunteers.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience in a position of responsibility in a setting where success comes from persuasion and influence rather than command and control.
• Able to demonstrate a record of being a leader of change in culture and practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Considerations:
• An excused absence will be granted when it is requested sufficiently in advance from the senior pastor.
• The senior pastor will normally excuse absence for illness or emergency, but the music director must communicate promptly with the senior pastor and in advance of the desired absence. Excessive absence due to illness or other reasons will be considered in performance reviews.
• Employment may be terminated by the incumbent or the church with a 30-day notice.

Evaluation:
1. A performance review will be conducted after 90 and 180 days by the senior pastor and the board of trustees, with input (in form of feedback) from various team members and the congregation.
2. The Director’s leadership, initiatives, potentials, and achievements will be important evaluation factors, as will generally attitude and spirit of helpfulness, including punctuality and attendance.
