Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our IT team and develop their career with us!
As an apprentice, you will become a competent and established EPOS Support Technician, taking responsibility for ensuring we work closely with our managed pub teams and our till system provider, to give our managed houses appropriate sales system use and support. You will learn how to proactively manage tasks relating to the deployment menus and new products with pricing.
The role:
You will undertake a 19 month ‘Information Communications Technician’ apprenticeship training program. This is a nationally recognized level 3 qualification that is designed to help you develop your knowledge, skills, and behaviours through a mixture of academic training sessions and practical ‘on-the-job experience’.
As you develop in your role, some of your key responsibilities will include: maintaining strong relationships with General Managers, Marketing, Digital and Food Teams and our 3rd party system provider; monitoring our EPOS function, developing the ability to methodically tackle and resolve issues; taking part in weekly meetings with our EPOS provider; updating our action log while working towards completing any agreed actions; tracking all helpdesk and data polling issues, working with the IT team and our EPOS provider's helpdesk to ensure all issues are explored and resolved in a timely manner; working with our commercial team, our finance team and other key stakeholders to ensure the St Austell Brewery Product range is correctly listed and any new products are correctly set-up within our till system; working with our marketing team, our IT helpdesk and other key stakeholders to ensure all promotional activity is planned and correctly set-up in our systems; working with our central food team, our IT helpdesk team and other key stakeholders to assist in the implementation of ongoing menu changes, while proactively looking for ways to simplify/streamline/improve our menu the change processes; assisting with link between our food ordering/stock management system and our EPOS system for stock depletion, using our central test kit to test and sign-off of new menus prior to go-live date, participating in the annual data cleanse of our EPOS database; contribute towards our internal continual improvement and feedback processes, to help us ensure we are delivering the best possible service for all stakeholders.
About you:
- Candidates with pub operations experience and pub related EPOS will have a distinct advantage when applying for this role.
- You need to have already achieved at least a level 4 (C) or above pass in both Maths and English at GCSE to qualify for this course.
- You should poses a good level of written literacy and have the ability to present and explain information.
- You should be an effective communicator, someone who can speak in a clear, confident and professional manner, either over the phone or face to face.
- You should feel able to liaise with internal colleagues or external stakeholders about either technical and non-technical issues, even if your knowledge is limited.
- You need to be an active listener when it comes to your interactions with others and know how to deal with a situation or some information that is confidential, displaying a good sense of judgment when it comes to deciding what to communicate and to whom.
- You should be well organised and possesses the ability to keep their stakeholders updated and informed.
- You will need to be able to think pragmatically, always looking for the best way to get a task completed.
- You will need a strong sense of attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Be capable of working under your own initiative, while at the same time ensuring you are a team player, by being as helpful, positive and proactive as possible.
- You must have the drive and determination to develop a career in IT and work towards a recognised qualification.
