Summary


Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance the Divisional Head of Finance (DHF) is a key role within the finance department. You will work alongside the Divisional Director to provide overall leadership and direction to a Division which comprises of a range of clinical specialties and/or corporate support functions which typically have a combined revenue budget in excess of £200m with over 2,000 members of staff.

The Divisional Head of Finance will influence strategic decision making within the Trust through the provision of highly complex business and financial advice and support to the Executive Directors, Senior Operational Managers, Clinicians and Budget Managers across the Divisions.

You will be responsible for the direction, motivation and management of a team of Management Accountants and Analysts and provide professional oversight to deliver both the Divisional and the Trusts’ corporate finance objectives. You will ensure a comprehensive and efficient service is provided at all times.

You will deputise for the Deputy Director of Finance across a range of strategic and operational issues as and when required.

The DHF will be responsible for all of the key functions within the Divisional finance team and supporting and leading on the continuous improvement of wider departmental policies and processes. These include the development of the Divisional annual and long term plans and leading on the detailed budget-setting process identifying financial risks and opportunities and overseeing the production of outturn forecasts. You will also act as the finance lead for the divisional productivity and efficiency programme and support the production of high quality and robust business cases enabling improvement across the Division.

On a monthly basis you will ensure the accurate and timely production of monthly finance and performance management information for the Divisional Management and Senior Finance Teams.

You will be responsible for directing, motivating and managing their team and will play a key role in developing their skills and those of the wider finance team.
