An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Burnley Council’s Housing Standards team as a Damp and Mould Housing Standards Officer. You will carry out an important function within the councils Housing team proactively targeting instances of damp and mould within the private rented sector.

Burnley has seen significant economic and housing growth, as one of the team in Housing you will have the opportunity to work on a project with the aim of specifically targeting issues of damp and mould within the private rented sector, by analysing data from Health and Housing to determine priority areas in relation to respiratory diseases and poor housing conditions. This will involve the inspection of properties, liaising with landlords to rectify any hazards identified to an adequate standard, including enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004 if needed.

In this interesting and varied role, you will be responsible for implementing policies and enforcement action to improve housing in the Borough and developing and forging partnerships including referral pathways from health and social including primary and secondary care settings for the safety and wellbeing of residents in the Borough.

It is essential you hold a certificate in the application of the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System. You must have experience of analysing complex information and drawing conclusions from the data. You must also have current experience of enforcing housing conditions under the Housing Act 2004.
