JOB SUMMARY To carry out comprehensive health assessments, TB screening and first contact care in a skilled and competent manner to Asylum Seeker and other ethnic minority groups. To work closely with both the Neighbourhood Network Manager to ensure provision of a high quality, integrated and well-co-ordinated service. To analyse and act on resource and caseload management issues, including for latent and active TB cases, providing timely new entrant screening and notification of active cases and contact training, using the relevant data and both local and government targets. To be proactive in the support of government targets and maintain good working relationships with partner agencies. Communicate with patients and colleagues on TB transmission, prevention, and management. Provide advice, information, and training to a varied cohort. Responsible for the day-to-day management / supervision of the team JOB DIMENSIONS: Responsible for the effective use of resources. Supervision of staff to deliver an efficient and effective service To be responsible for the audit of service To be responsible for providing day to day supervision and support the line management to members of the health integration team and TB nursing service. To recruit, select and maintain retention of staff members in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Network Manager. To act as a Specialist Nurse Prescriber within the service KEY RESULT AREAS: CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Professional Responsibility for service provision ensuring accountable practice whilst maintaining and enhancing current quality standards and delivery of performance targets. To plan and manage own time/workload effectively balancing competing demands and frequent interruptions whilst being available throughout the day for advice and support to junior staff and colleagues. To carry out effective quality health assessments in a manor that encourages the divulgence of diverse and sensitive information in difficult situations. To undertake comprehensive health assessments utilising highly developed specialised knowledge and clinical expertise, which is theory-based and underpinned with substantial practical experience in a competent manner. To identify other screening or therapeutic interventions, signposting to appropriate services as required, ensuring clients health needs are addressed. Provide interventions and or treatments for TB which may include directly observed therapy and contract tracing. To provide operational leadership to the team through periods of change, ensuring the skills of the individuals meet the needs and expectations whilst acting as a positive role model to raise morale and innovative practice. To attend operational meetings with partner agencies e.g. Department of Health and UK Border Agency and be proactive with any new health initiatives that may be introduced. Identify the individual potential in all grades of staff within the team and support them through undertaking effective annual staff development review processes. Be responsible for the day-to-day management / supervision of the service ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and a high standard of care provision are achieved to client expectations. To be involved in the development of protocols, procedures, guidelines, care pathways in relation to clinical practice, working in partnership with partner agencies as required. Identifying housing issues which impact on the delivery of effective TB services across the caseload and raise these with local housing authorities, both directly and through health and well-being boards To be aware of and act in accordance with the Trust Clinical Standards and Guidelines and the NMC Code of Conduct. To provide cover and support to the Neighbourhood Network Manager as required and to deputise at meetings as appropriate To supply/prescribe medication according to the clinical assessment of the clients presenting condition; keep accurate and immediate records of every contact.
