Ofqual is the independent qualifications regulator for England. We currently regulate 200+ awarding organisations, and approx. 11,600 certified qualifications. These include GCSEs, AS and A levels, and a broad range of vocational and technical qualifications. Regulating on behalf of students of all ages and apprentices is central to how we fulfil our statutory objectives.

About the team

We are recruiting for a permanent Senior Officer post in the General Qualifications Directorate’s Policy and Strategic Relationships team. If you enjoy working with others and are able to communicate complex ideas to a range of different stakeholders, then we would love to hear from you.

What will the post holder be doing?

The post holder will support work across the team – contributing to effective stakeholder engagement and supporting policy development. The post holder will be required to deliver at a fast pace, work together with the team and others across the organisation, and communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external stakeholders. Main responsibilities are likely to include:
• contributing to effective stakeholder engagement, including coordination across Ofqual
• supporting Ofqual’s programme of school and college visits
• preparing briefings, reports and presentations that are clear, accessible and appropriate for the intended audience
• supporting preparation for parliamentary committee sessions
• implementing and reviewing processes to manage the work of the team
• coordinating and drafting responses to correspondence
• providing the secretariat function for internal and external meetings
• supporting policy development, including evaluating and analysing research and evidence and analysing responses to public consultations
• liaising with awarding organisations to enable effective regulation
• providing flexible support to incident management
• contributing to effective risk management, in line with Ofqual’s risk framework
