This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Exploitation Team and support us to understand user needs and embed frameworks and governance which enables the exchange of information in real-time to run digital services and inform decision making. You will support the organisation to apply approaches to Data Science, Analytics and Artificial Intelligent safely to deliver environmental outcomes.

We’re looking for a tenacious, well organised person who can engage and bring others with them as we look to build consistency across the data science approaches we adopt.

The team

The Data Exploitation Team sits within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurances Directorate. Our department has a fundamental role to ensure the Environment Agency manages and uses data and information appropriately. You’ll work with business leads across the organisation and Defra.

We’re a national team providing technical services, advice and guidance to the wider business and ensuring teams make the most of their data.

Experience/skills required

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of data issues facing the Environment Agency and also current state and future trends in data science and Artificial Intelligence, with a willingness to dive deeper into the detail where required. You will be able to demonstrate some of the following:

• Support our work to deliver a framework and strategic roadmap for Data Science and AI across the organisation
• Actively help grow networks across the Environment Agency
• Innovate across the organisation to transform our existing analytical approaches
• Support the business to embed Artificial Intelligence capabilities
• Continually improve the services we offer based on user need.
• Strong and Effective communication skills
• Ability to constructively challenge and to confidently contribute to overall success of the work we do
• Experience of successfully delivering data projects
• Building communities of data users, managing data and undertaking data analytics.
