We have an exciting opportunity for a P.A./Medical Secretary to join the Older Person's Inpatient Mental Health Team. This post is for 30 hours per week to support the Older Person's Service Lead, Inpatient Consultants and their wider team e.g., trainees and non-medical prescribers, and the Therapies Lead.

You will take the lead for the administratively supporting the team; providing familiarisation for the trainee rotation and initial set up, attend and take notes at the weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings, organise clinical discussion meetings, support the timely completion of discharge summaries, reports and correspondence and support the Mental Health Act documentation processes.

You will need the ability to work accurately, at pace, whilst paying attention to detail and have an extensive knowledge of using the Microsoft Office Packages, along with an aptitude for learning and using computer based systems.

To take overall responsibility for the provision of a professional, efficient, and confidential secretarial service to the Service Lead, Consultants and Therapies Lead for Older People’s Inpatient Mental Health Services within an environment of continuously developing demands.

To manage and maintain up-to-date electronic diary systems, entering any due dates and urgent reminders, to support effective use of the time, considering conflicting priorities and changing deadlines.

To take responsibility for the day-to-day management of all correspondence, including discharge summaries, ensuring all work items are monitored, progress tracked, and responses are received in advance of deadlines.

To coordinate a wide range of duties, including audio typing, attending the weekly MDT meetings, updating patient’s electronic records, preparing, and distributing reports, minutes, agendas and other documents accurately and to deadlines. to take minutes of meetings as required; Disciplinary and Capability Hearings, Monthly Clinical Discussion Meetings and Therapy Leads Meetings.
