Summary


Are you a pro-active, motivated individual who would enjoy working in a challenging and busy emergency department? We are looking to appoint a Progress chasers to support effective flow and timely discharges from the short stay medical ward. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills able to work well under pressure and be a key team player. This career has lots of job satisfaction daily, as you’ll be helping patients and their families with their requirements and providing support through their healthcare journey. Your role will ensure a professional and efficient progress chaser service is provided to patients and clinical staff. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be confident, professional.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, state of the art Emergency Department is in the process of being completed.

Key responsibilities of the role are reception duties, greeting patients, checking demographics, guiding patients to the correct waiting area, and arranging follow up appointments. Administrative duties include answering patient queries, answering calls and booking appointments, registering patients, sending emails, arranging transport and liaising with other healthcare professionals.
