Job title: Prisoner Custody Officers

Location: Workington, Cumbria

Contract and hours: Full Time – Permanent – 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday (occasional Saturdays)

Salary: The starting salary of £20,820, excellent benefits -OT may be available ( depending on role, location, etc)


We are currently seeking Court Prisoner Custody Officers to join our client’s Custody team.


Our client provides a vital public service through the safe and secure transportation and custody services for adults and young people across the UK. Our client operates on behalf of a Prison Service, the Ministry of Justice and partners across the Criminal Justice System.


The role: Workington, Cumbria


You will be responsible for the physical and mental well-being of those in your care, ensuring their health, safety and well-being is a priority. You will also liaise with Prison and Police authorities, you’ll ensure all documentation is completed and correct, carrying out risk assessments on vulnerable or at-risk prisoners before transferring them. If successful, you will also be required to manage personal property and will be responsible for organising and supervising meals and drinks.


Key duties/responsibilities to include: Workington, Cumbria


  • Carry out custodial duties within a court location
  • Maintain security and order in the courtroom and custody suite
  • Supervising and documenting prisoner movements within the court
  • Searching of individuals, cells and areas of the custody suites

No previous work experience is not essential. It’s more about you and what you can bring to this role. Our client will be looking for the right behaviours to care for and help people that you are responsible for whilst on shift.
