Crynodeb

At the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), we encourage applications from everyone, particularly groups currently underrepresented in our workforce. We pride ourselves on the positive impact diversity has and promote inclusivity and equality of opportunity for all. Our recruitment process is anonymised, which means that your name, date of birth and other personal details will not be seen by the sift panel.

Do you have experience of working within a fast-paced health and safety role?

Can you use your excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders?

Are you confident with producing thorough, accurate health and safety reports and risk assessments?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

You will be responsible for the development of health and safety policies, procedures, safe systems of work, method statements and risk assessments in line with core health and safety competencies.

You will actively monitor statutory compliance with legislation by conducting internal audits and produce accurate, thorough reports on your findings for presentation to key stakeholders and senior management. You will also conduct in depth audits of our principle service partners, ensuring they remain legally compliant.

You will investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, generating corrective action reports for those responsible to make the required improvements.

Acting as our subject matter expert, you will provide internal and external stakeholders with advice and guidance on the application of health and safety.

We may require you to undertake line management responsibilities, and you would be supported to develop these skills if you have not previously worked as a line manager.

This is a fast-paced, varied role in which no two days are the same. You will join a supportive, knowledgeable, close-knit team, in which you will be encouraged to develop your skills and excel in your role and career.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Regularly audit the health and safety management system, principal service partners and contractors to assure statutory compliance.
  • Generate and regularly review Corrective Action Reports with key stakeholders where non-compliance has been identified and establish progress in line with report timescales for completion.
  • To review RAMS submitted by PSP, business partners sub-contractors to ensure they remain suitable and sufficient in controlling work related risk.
  • Conduct accident, incident and near miss investigations to identify root causes, reporting on PI claims, and collation of accident statistics.
  • Maintain the Health and Safety Management System in line with the ISO 45001 certification.
