KMPT provides a wide range of adult mental health and learning disability services to our local population of 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway. Each year we care for over 2000 people in our hospitals and 54,000 people in the community.

There has never been a more important time to work in mental healthcare. Every year, across the UK, around 1 in 4 people will experience mental ill health.As the largest provider of mental health care in Kent and Medway we recognise the vital role we play beyond delivering outstanding care.

This newly created role is looking for an experienced digital content and communications officer to join our communications and engagement team. You will help develop content for our brand new intranet. As well as support the delivery of two new external websites: The first, for our community mental health together programme, named Mental Health Together which is transforming how mental health care is delivered in the community. The second is delivering a new front facing KMPT website.

Working alongside the head of digital communications and brand, you will play a leading role in developing content across all 3 websites. Your excellent written skills mean you can write excellent web content aligned to our voice, tone and Plain English ethos. You’re an expert in WCAG writing principles, it’s application and are able to help educate others on this journey.

You will be an innovative, creative and experienced digital communications officer who has a knack for developing scroll-stopping content that informs, inspires, educates and nurtures our various online audiences.Your creative and collaborative nature means you will successfully work with and influence teams across KMPT to achieve better digital outcomes.

1) Work with the head of digital communications developing our new intranet and support the delivery of a new front-facing KMPT and Mental Health Together website: Supporting project management, content writing, and CMS maintenance.
2) Content Management: Write, create, edit, and publish engaging and informative content across intranet, websites, and social media aligned to our voice and tone.
3) User Experience Enhancement: Conduct user research, analyse feedback, and implement improvements to enhance user experience and develop content.
4) Digital Communications: Collaborate with departments, teams, and content creators to align messaging and maintain brand consistency. Plan and implement campaigns across website, intranet, and social media using best practices.
5) Information Architecture: Develop and maintain the information and content architecture for the intranet and website.

6) Training and Support: Provide training and support to content contributors on using the intranet, writing for web best practices, and accessibility guidelines.
7) Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website and intranet analytics to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
8) Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with policies, accessibility (WCAG), legal requirements, and GDPR.

1) Work with the head of digital communications to develop our new intranet and support the delivery of a new external website:
• Help develop and maintain a new intranet and support delivery of a new external website.
• Support the delivery of a new website. This includes working with external suppliers to develop the platform and key stakeholders to define, write content, and support project management.This is not a coding role meaning you will not be required to code and build.

2) Content management:
• Write, create, edit, and publish engaging and informative content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance of information across digital channels. Content includes written, image, and video.
• Analyse complex facts, situations, or briefs you are presented and work with Subject Matter Experts to interpret complex policy and guidance into appropriate written web content.
• Help embed WCAG content practices across the organisation.

3) User experience enhancement:
• Conduct user research, analyse feedback, and implement improvements to enhance user experience across the intranet.
• Optimise site navigation, search functionality, and overall usability across intranet and web
• Work with stakeholders to understand their needs, gather information and advise them on how to best optimise content and user experience.

4) Digital Communications:
• Work with wider communications team to support the development and implementation of digital communications strategies, for internal and external stakeholders aligned to our broader KMPT strategy
• Work to conflicting deadlines with high degree of flexibility, switching tasks and priorities as the situation demands.
• Support the management of wider digital communication channels if required such as email and social media.

5) Information Architecture:
• Write, develop, and maintain the information architecture for intranet and websites.
• Ensure logical organisation and easy retrieval of information.
• Implement metadata standards and SEO strategies to optimise content discoverability.

6) Training and Support:
• Provide training and support on writing for web best practices, intranet and CMS usage, and WCAG accessibility guidelines as well as technical issues and guidance
• Manage intranet and website content governance and authorship structure
• Work with the head of digital communications and brand in empowering colleagues to use the intranet and website through training, delivering best practices, with the aim of improving skills and digital confidence and competence.

7) Analytics and Reporting:
• Monitor intranet and website data, analytics, and feedback to evaluate performance, understand user behavior and identify areas for improvement – using relevant tools.
• Generate reports on key metrics, user engagement, and content effectiveness.

8) Compliance and Governance:
• Ensure compliance with policies, legal requirements, and data protection regulations.
• Identify and manage confidential and sensitive information and operate with professionalism and integrity
• Uphold NHS and KMPT guidelines, standards, and best practices for accessibility (WCAG 2.2) and inclusion.
• To build effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System (ICS) and NHS, and support the Trust’s relationship with external stakeholders including service users, the voluntary sector, and local authorities
