An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 5 Occupational Therapist who has some experience of Stroke or Neurorehabilitation to undertake a fixed term contract on our Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Trafford General Hospital. The fixed term contract will end on 31/05/25.
Our team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants who are based on the Stroke Unit. We provide a patient centred therapy package which is bespoke to all our patients and families and facilitate the most appropriate discharge pathway in collaboration with our medical and nursing colleagues.
You will have the opportunity to develop skills within many areas including Stroke rehabilitation, community visits, complex discharge planning and advanced communication. You will receive regular, structured supervision as well as the benefit of working with other experienced stroke specialist professionals to further develop your stroke specific knowledge and skills.
You’ll monitor & review occupational therapy care plans against outcome measures & adjust care plans to facilitate achievement of goals.
With strong organisational, planning & prioritisation skills, you’ll maintain accurate & comprehensive records of assessment & treatment in line with RCOT standards & local policy.
You’ll effectively assess patients with the support of experienced staff, identifying their problems & needs, ensuring medical, psychological, social, environmental & cultural factors are taken in to account.
You’ll enjoy working with patients, many who have complex needs and demonstrate practical skills of assessment, goal setting, progressing patients to achieve their individual goals and facilitating the most appropriate discharge pathways.
What’s more, with a flexible attitude & the ability to adapt you will coordinate and monitor the activity and your caseload demands.
You’ll maintain a calm & professional approach to all duties participating in weekend rota.
Finally, it goes without saying, as a naturally empathetic individual with excellent communication & interpersonal skills, you’ll build rapport & demonstrate compassion towards patients & carers and providing effective advice.
