The Radiotherapy Physics team at Barts is looking for a Band 7 Physicists to join the team.

The successful candidate will be able to work in all sections of the department, treatment planning, Brachytherapy, QA and Dosimetry. There are opportunities in all areas of the departments work.

The position would be suitable for an existing Band 7 HCPC Registered physicist or someone who is due to complete the STP programme in September or close to completion of Route 2 Training with a specialism in Radiotherapy Physics.

The Radiotherapy Department at Barts is equipped withfiveVarian TrueBeams. All the linacs have OBI, RapidArc and Gating facilities. Two of the linacs have 6d couch with HyperArc SRS. (SRT and SABR). There is also a new Superficial Unit.

HDR Brachytherapy is delivered on a Varian GammaMed unit with replacement planned in the coming months. There is a prostate brachytherapy seed Implant programme and a specialised ophthalmic brachytherapy programme with Moorfields Hospital.

Treatment Planning is carried out on Eclipse, with a high proportion of patients having inverse plannedRapidArc treatment.Pre-treatment imaging is carried out on a widebore dual energy CT scanner and there is also access to MR and PET-CT in the hospital.

The department is an accredited training department for STP and HSST Programmes as well as actively supporting physicists in submitting their portfolio for MPE registration with RPA2000

To participate in the highly specialised scientific and technical support to the Radiotherapy Department including external beam and brachytherapy treatment planning, quality assurance and dosimetry. Undertake and collaborate in the scientific and technical research and development projects in radiotherapy physics in support of the clinical priorities of the Radiotherapy Department. Take responsibility for assigned work in treatment planning, brachytherapy and quality assurance. Take part in and contribute to the departmental quality management system. Assist with commissioning of new equipment when assigned
