Please note you will be required to join the Saturday rota at the ARU, which provides a 6 day a week therapy service. You will be working a 1 in 6 Saturday rota currently, however this may be stopped during 2024 and reverting to a 5 days service.

Admin responsibilities include use of Microsoft Office package for stock checks, ordering stock (use of oracle online system), completion of audits, writing notes, cleaning of equipment, setting up group work, referrals, wheelchair maintenance along with others.

Please see the attached Job description and person specifications for more duties and responsibilities.

The essence of the Amputee rehabilitation unit ( ARU ) model of care is to provide specialist rehabilitation for people who have undergone major amputation. Therapy is delivered to maximise patient outcomes and goal attainment.

The ARU brings together the essential elements of evidence based post-operative amputee care in an appropriately staffed and equipped specialist unit. Such elements include access to specialist medical, nursing, therapy and counselling professionals in amputee care. This facilitates early mobilisation, prosthetic provision and psychological care within a dedicated rehabilitation setting.

The ARU accepts amputees with major amputation that will benefit from a specialist, coordinated rehabilitation programme. Patients will transfer from acute services within 14 days of amputation. Most will be of older age, be deconditioned with significant comorbidities and have complex discharge/social care requirements. Predominantly, patients will be registered across south east London but may reside outside of this region.

The successful candidate will have opportunities for internal and external training and development. We hold weekly in service training, which is both uni and multi professional and we strongly encourage self directed learning. Prosthetic trade representatives frequently visit and our dynamic team provide the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest prosthetic developments.
