Summary
We are looking to recruit a pig stockperson to provide temporary cover for an indoor breeding unit in Dorset (DT2).
We are looking for someone reliable, a good team player, flexible, conscientious, and caring about the animals.
This temporary position is not just a job; it's a stepping stone to a promising career in pig farming. With the potential to transition into a permanent role, it offers stability, growth, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the pig unit.
Duties could include, depending on experience:
Working with dry sows
Artificial Insemination
Farrowing
Moving Pigs
Weaning piglets
Fallen stock removal
Identification of illness
Administering vaccinations and medicine
Practicing good biosecurity
Accurate record keeping
The unit needs a seasoned professional with hands-on experience in pig farming. The ideal candidate should be ready to hit the ground running and ensure a seamless continuation of our operations.
Hourly rate: From £12 per hour (DOE), plus free accommodation and daily travel to the farm and home.
Start date: June to Sept 2024 (Full-time).
If not local, free accommodation is provided.
The chosen applicant is expected to work every other weekend.
