About the Role
As an enthusiastic and effective Senior Engineer, you will assist the Principal Engineer in running a team of engineers of varying levels of experience delivering a wide variety of highway drainage projects to time and budget. This role is full of variety and each day will bring new experiences! Covering the entire county, the team is responsible for project delivery ranging from minor highway drainage improvements to major flood alleviation schemes protecting people and property.
Working within the political and business environment of the Council you will develop strong positive relationships with clients, colleagues and partners across all service areas. You will need to think creatively and work collaboratively, seeking opportunities to assist in improving individual and team performance and service delivery in line with the Council’s objectives.
You'll primarily operate from Lancaster House in Lincoln, but you'll also need to regularly visit different locations each week based on your team's and the authorities requirements. This involves both office work in Lincoln and conducting site supervision tasks across Lincolnshire. Your physical presence will ensure everything is undertaken effectively and projects run smoothly. Given the mobile nature of your role across the county, possessing a valid UK driving license is a must, and you'll have access to our pool vehicles to facilitate your travels.
About the Team
You will join the Highways Drainage Delivery Team working alongside other specialist teams delivering highways functions from conception through to completion. We have a friendly and welcoming ethos (and one that enjoys the odd slice of cake or a night out!) where we strongly believe in developing and growing successful team members to help us deliver the best solutions for Lincolnshire.
About You
You will be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or have the equivalent experience and be familiar with types of highway drainage assets, infrastructure and have an elementary understanding of the relevant standards on which to build if necessary. You will have practical knowledge of problem solving in relation to highway matters with site experience preferable, be able to prioritise tasks, be comfortable with making decisions and have the ability to successfully move projects forward. With excellent communication skills, you will also demonstrate effective behaviours in the way you work with your colleagues, clients and stakeholders. Knowledge and experience of NEC contracts is preferable.

Along with a competitive salary we are offering:
A Contributory pension
Comprehensive benefits package including excellent discount schemes and cycle to work
