Registration with the HealthCare Professions Council in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics as a Clinical Scientist is mandatory. To have attained FRCPath Part 1 and to have, or be working towards full Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists.
To take responsibility as a Section Head for a specialised aspect of H&I laboratory work, including supervision of staff
To have line-manager status and on a daily basis to be responsible for organising and planning own work activities, and activities of staff teams
To adhere to national standards (UKAS/ISO15189 and European Federation of Immunogenetics) and to be responsible for compliance to these standards within your area of work.
To be responsible for ensuring an annual programme of scheduled audits is completed to document compliance to these standards
To advise other staff and clinicians on tests requested and test interpretation with reference to the Consultant Clinical Scientists
To deputise for the Consultant Clinical Scientists when required
To take on responsibility for managing workload and clinical direction of a section of the Laboratory under the direction of the Consultant Clinical Scientists.
To be a member of the Senior Management Team, advising on strategic developments and innovations.
To attend MDT meetings as appropriate.
To participate in the Clinical Advice Scientist rota out of hours on call.
To initiate and supervise training projects, business cases and formulating policies as required.
