Do you have experience of working with young people in a Pastoral Support Role?
Christ The King Catholic Voluntary Academy have an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of our behaviour support unit, The Damascus Centre as Pastoral Support Lead. The centre supports some of the most vulnerable students in our Academy with a focus on academia and therapeutic support. We use current research in ‘Trauma Informed and Relational Practice’ to help to re-focus, motivate, and ultimately reintegrate students back into mainstream lessons.
Working under the guidance and direction of the Inclusion Manager you will support continued improvements in behaviour across the Academy through the provision of academic, behavioural, and therapeutic support in the Damascus Centre and across the wider Academy. You will support improvements in attendance and engagement and the reduction of suspensions and permanent exclusions of key vulnerable students. You will assist students with additional needs to support re-integration into mainstream classrooms without adversely affecting the behaviour and progress of other students.
This is a permanent role working 37 hours per week, on a term time only basis.

About the role
You will:

Develop your own practice using a range of therapeutic strategies and will be expected to demonstrate that you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of the students in the Academy.
Work independently to encourage pupils to become more independent learners and help to raise achievement and attainment for all pupils.
Have experience of working in a student facing role, ideally working with young people in developing strategies to support personal development.
Develop, plan, deliver and review learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils.
work well under pressure with an ability to diffuse potentially contentious situations and to form positive and trusting relationships with students in order to raise student achievement.
Demonstrate that you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of the students in the Academy.
Take responsibility for the planning and delivery of specified packages of work.
