An opportunity has arisen for a Community Justice Drug and Alcohol Worker post within the Community Justice Social Work Team to assess, supervise and provide specialist intervention to those subject to Court Ordered Treatment.
The successful applicant will provide pre-sentence assessments to Court and a tailored and trauma informed intervention to individuals subject to Statutory Orders or licence imposed by both the Court or the Parole Board. This will be in accordance with the National Outcomes and Standards for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System and relevant Scottish Executive Circulars and legislation.
You will be based on a day to day basis within the Community Justice Social Work Team in St Martins House, whilst maintaining close links with the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team (IDART).
You will have the ability to work alongside team members and agencies who are involved with offenders to help support structured intervention/supervision.
You will be able to work to deadlines set by the Court, and to a standard which upholds the Court’s expectations.
You will support colleagues, offenders and their families through assessment and intervention.
You will support offenders at home, in the community and during imprisonment.

The Individual
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and highly motivated individual.
Due to the requirements set out in the relevant legislation, it is essential that the successful candidate has experience and training in working with both alcohol and substance use issues with clients.
Experience of working with offenders, and/or working experience and knowledge of key issues within the Criminal Justice System is preferable.
You should be innovative and flexible in your approach as well as clear and concise in both your written and verbal communication.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to engage with clients and a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be able to organise your workload using a systematic approach to ensure high standards are maintained. You must be able to keep accurate and up to date records.
You should have a commitment to ongoing professional development to acquire the skills and knowledge relating to the role and developing expertise to provide support to others.
The successful candidate should have an SVQ Level 3 (or be willing to work towards this).
You will be required to accompany offenders to and from appointments, carry out home visits and do outreach work throughout the Perth & Kinross area, including rural areas, therefore you must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
